USJ to Kg Pandamaran, Klang

Met up with Daryl Khoo for a short leisure ride last night and noted that he too was not able to attend tonight's Putrajaya New Year Eve Night ride to welcome in 2012 with the rest of our usual geng; so we decided to a year-end ride early tis morning on Kesas...

Having arrived at Bandar Botanik, Daryl decided that we should look for breakfast at the rustic town of Pandamaran in Port Klang. ( news of good food was rumoured to be found there ). After the smooth ride on Kesas Highway, the trunk road towards town seems to be ever so dusty, bumpy, narrow with bad heavy traffic incl. huge lorries.

There were several interesting looking eateries around town, but we settled for a newer looking food court; Daryl's curry mee was good, but my CheeCheongFun was so-so only.

The ride home was a bit faster despite the day getting hotter and hotter... reaching home at a little after 10am.. ( distance : 61km )

Conquering Fraser Hill...

17 Dec - After many rides on highways, uphills and downhills route. It is time to conquer the hill. And our cycling buddy Rivern suggested that we should cycle up to Fraser Hill.

Joined by 11 riders, we started from Kuala Kubu Bahru (KKB). The entire distance is about 41km to Fraser Hill.

1st stop at the bridge where the KKB Dam releases the water into the river.

Scenic view around the KKB Dam

So far so good, thumbs up from the guys

Towards to Sg Chilling Fish Sanctuary

2nd stop at the Sg Chilling, rest before the serious uphill ahead

Uphill task, ride to the far side of the slope

Changes of the rain forest vegetation as fern are insight.

Reach Gap, we are now at about 1220 meters above sea lever
and crossed inter-state of Pahang.

The final 8km steep climb ahead

Suffered a rear tire puncture at the last 1.5km

Men at work

We've made it. Been cycling for about 3hrs, 41km in distance

Time to replenish our energy

Most of us were not prepared for the extreme coldness.
Waste plastic bags can be use as wind breaker too

It was drizzling and foggy. Can't do any cycle around, so time to go downhill

Foggy conditions, visibility was poor

It was an adventurous ride, we have covered 84km in distance and
cycle for more than 5 hours plus some stops.

Tips:
Bring windbreaker and extra long sleeve jersey as you may not know when the weather will change. Also lights and blinkers help a lot when you're caught in a rain or dense fog.

Cuti-cuti 1Malaysia Putrajaya Bike Ride

With lots of our Green Rider members pre-occupied and out of the country this holiday season, I ventured alone to the Putrajaya Ride in conjuction with the launching ceremony of the Discover Putrajaya Cycling Packages by YB Dato Seri Ng Yen Yen. The response was good with an attendance of 1700+ cyclist of all ages/ race and creed.

No fee ( usually RM2.50 ) was charged for the ride this time but riders still recieve a nice t-shirt as well as unlimited light food and snacks and a certificate of participation...

Kaki Touring, Ibrahim Kadri

Met a Facebook friend ( bicycle tourer ) Ibrahim Kadri for the first time. He had recently completed a short 700km tour to Krabi, Thailand. His Surly LHT is one to be admired even without any luggages. You can read about his trip at Tumpat Kelantan to Krabi Thailand via Hadyai

Me with PYT Lena

Also bumped into a familiar face; First met this active yound lady in Kempen Berbasikal Bersama Rakyat 1313 Ipoh with the Chongs; and again at OCBC Cycle Malaysia. Lena takes part in Duathlons, guys... so watch out!

Unlimited Food and Drinks

Weather was fine and the ride was well organised, with beautiful scenery and landscape. While 25km with 2 rest stops was a little too brisk for me, but I highly recommend it for beginners or families with small kids.

Should have been more adventurous and join Victor, Rivern, foldie couple Chongs up Fraser's Hill but need to train a lot harder first...

Couldn't resist taking a shot with our Malaysian Mounties

Oh yeah... 1Malaysia Cuti-Cuti Cycling Packages. Here's a copy of the brochure ( in case you happen to be interested... quite $$$ )
