Surly Long Haul Trucker

Every since I started cycling, I often imagine myself doing unsupported cycle tour like those adventurous souls which I read about at CrazyGuyOnABike.

So after 'bout a year thinking about it, I finally took the plunge and brought in a Surly Long Haul Trucker 700c 56' frame.

The Surly Long Haul Trucker is by far amongst the most reputable tour bicycles which season cycle tourist swears by around the globe.

Take note that it isn't going to be a fast and nimble bike by any stretch, so don't expect it to get you anywhere quickly. It will, however, promises you a very smooth and comfortable ride once you get rolling, and handle all the weight you can throw at it.

If you want to carry a lot of stuff while riding your bike long distances, you’d be hard pressed to find a better bike than the Long Haul Trucker. It starts with the frame, whose tubing and geometry were specifically designed for loaded travel.

Equipt with my old Garmin GPS map... ( as I am hopeless in Directions )

A bike for the fearful / doggy mobile

Just last week, a relative of mine decided that she wanted to take up a healthy hobby, and obviously I suggested cycling.

She has never been on a bicycle before ( common among women ) and despite Sharon coaxing, she was reluntant to try until we found the perfect solution:-

A Trike bike - Three (3) Wheel Bicycle

We found this brand new beauty retailing at RM1280.00 at Joo Ngan Son at Uptown. It was love at first sight for her, and guess what... her doggies love it too....
Here's a picture of Sharon's niece, Kay Yen testing a 2nd hand unit for sale at Gainway Enterprise.

The true facts...

Bike Trailling - local style

Cartoon of the Week

Bike Lanes in Selangor ( But not in Subang???? )

HULU SELANGOR: Kuala Kubu Bharu will become the first town in Selangor with its own designated bike lanes by December, with Petaling Jaya and Shah Alam likely to follow suit soon.

Executive councillor Elizabeth Wong told Selangor Times the Hulu Selangor District Council, in its July full board meeting, had approved a proposal to construct bike lanes around Kuala Kubu Bharu. “Kuala Kubu Bharu will serve as a pilot project. If it is successful, the Petaling Jaya mayor is also keen to build bike lanes around the city [to reduce traffic congestion and the city’s carbon footprint],” said Wong in a phone interview.

Wong said Shah Alam is another city that has the potential to transform itself into a biking city as its development over the years has been more controlled and organised.

Selangor is mirroring a worldwide trend where major cities including London, Paris and Washington, DC are taking varioussteps to promote cycling as the preferred mode of transport. Apart from constructing bike lanes, Wong said Selangor and relevant local governments will be amending their laws and by-laws to ensure cyclists’ safety on the road.

“Safety is our number-one concern. So, for example, we plan to introduce penalties for those who endanger cyclists by parking their vehicles on bicycle routes,” said Wong rest of article here

Richard was in London recently on a business trip...

His Text : Hi folks, still doing my rituals in London. Swipe credit card unlock and off you go paddling. London is full of bikers now. Ok just bluffing. Most of the time shopping. Not me- Stef, have to carry her shopping bags. Dying to come back- to cycle. See you soon.
